Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Norton Internet Security. A remote user can cause arbitrary code to be executed on the target user's system.

A remote user can create a specially crafted DLL file that, when placed on the target user's system, will cause the Norton Download Manager component to load the remote user's DLL instead of the intended DLL and execute arbitrary code when the Norton Download Manager component is run by the target user.

Sachin M. Wagh (tiger_tigerboy), Praveen Singh, and JP CERT reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A remote user can cause the target application to execute arbitrary code on the target user's system.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix.

The vendor advises that users must first delete any previously downloaded version of Norton Download Manager (version 5.6 or prior) and then download an updated version of Norton Download Manager currently from the Norton Internet Security web portal.
