Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Xen. A local user on the guest system can cause denial of service conditions on the host system.

A local user on the guest system can perform certain kernel operations (e.g., page table writes) that asynchronously modify the kernel's instruction stream to mask interrupts and cause the host system to hang or crash.

x86 PV guests are affected.

Jan Beulich of SUSE reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local user on the guest system can cause the target host system to hang or crash.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (xsa202-4.4.patch, xsa202-4.6.patch, and xsa202.patch).
