Description:   Two vulnerabilities were reported in Xen. A local user on the guest system can cause denial of service conditions on the guest system.

A local user can trigger a privilege check error when the system emulates instructions that generate software interrupts to cause unspecified denial of service conditions on the guest system [CVE-2016-9377].

A local user can trigger a privilege check error when the system emulates instructions that generate software interrupts to cause the guest system to crash [CVE-2016-9378].

Systems with AMD hardware that do not have the NRip feature are affected.

Systems with Intel hardware are not affected.

HVM guests are affected.

ARM systems are not affected.

Andrew Cooper of Citrix reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local user on the guest system can cause the guest system to crash.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix.
