Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Xen. A local user on the guest system can cause denial of service conditions on the host system.

A local administrative user on the guest system can exploit a flaw in the validation of canonical addresses when writing to certain registers and executing certain instructions to trigger a general protection fault and cause the host system to crash.

x86 PV guests and x86 HVM guests are not affected.

ARM systems are not affected.

Andrew Cooper of Citrix reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local administrative user on the guest system can cause the host system to crash.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (xsa193-4.5.patch, xsa193-4.7.patch, and xsa193.patch).
