Date:  Nov 8 2016
Impact:   Disclosure of system information, Disclosure of user information, Execution of arbitrary code via network, Modification of user information, User access via network
Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes

Description:   Multiple vulnerabilities were reported in Microsoft Edge. A remote user can cause arbitrary code to be executed on the target user's system. A remote user can obtain files on the target system. A remote user can obtain potentially sensitive information on the target system. A remote user can spoof content.

A remote user can create specially crafted content that, when loaded by the target user, will trigger an object memory handling error and execute arbitrary code on the target user's system [CVE-2016-7195, CVE-2016-7196, CVE-2016-7198, CVE-2016-7241].

A remote user can create specially crafted content that, when loaded by the target user via a secure web site, will trigger an object memory handling error and obtain browser window state from a different domain [CVE-2016-7199].

A remote authenticated user can run a specially crafted application to exploit a regular expressions (regex) processing flaw in the Microsoft browser XSS filter and obtain potentially sensitive information from certain web pages [CVE-2016-7239].

A remote user can create specially crafted content that, when loaded by the target user, will trigger a memory corruption error in the scripting engine and execute arbitrary code on the target user's system [CVE-2016-7200, CVE-2016-7201, CVE-2016-7202, CVE-2016-7203, CVE-2016-7208, CVE-2016-7240, CVE-2016-7242, CVE-2016-7243].

A remote user can create specially crafted content that, when loaded by the target user, will trigger an object memory handling error and access files in the target user's 'My Documents' directory [CVE-2016-7204].

A remote user can create a specially crafted URL that, when loaded by the target user, will trigger a flaw in the processing of HTTP data and redirect the target user to an arbitrary web site and spoof web content [CVE-2016-7209].

A remote user can create specially crafted content that, when loaded by the target user, will trigger an object memory handling error and detect specific files on the target user's system [CVE-2016-7227].

Abdulrahman Alqabandi (@qab), Kai Song of Tencent's Xuanwu LAB, Liu Long of Qihoo 360, Masato Kinugawa of Cure53, Microsoft ChakraCore Team, Natalie Silvanovich of Google Project Zero, Nicolas Joly of MSRCE UK, Qixun Zhao of Qihoo 360 Skyeye Labs, bee13oy of CloverSec Labs (via Trend Micro's Zero Day Initiative (ZDI)), and Scott Bell of Security-Assessment.com reported these vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A remote user can create content that, when loaded by the target user, will execute arbitrary code on the target user's system.

A remote user can obtain information from the target user's 'My Documents' folder.

A remote user can obtain potentially sensitive information on the target system.

A remote user can spoof web content.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix.
