Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Cisco ASA. A remote user can cause the target service to restart. A remote user can bypass Snort detection.

A remote user can send specially crafted data to cause the target Snort process to restart. This can be exploited to bypass Snort detection while the process is restarting.

5500-X Series ASA devices with FirePOWER Services are affected if the ASA release supports the command-line interface (CLI) command 'sfr fail-open' and that command is configured.

The vendor has assigned bug ID CSCux61630 to this vulnerability.

Impact:   A remote user can cause the target Snort service to restart, bypassing Snort detection while the service restarts.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix.
