Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Xen. A local user on the guest system can read or modify information from other processes on the guest system. Citrix XenServer is affected.

A local unprivileged user that can trigger the Xen instruction emulator on the guest system can exploit an access control race condition in certain control registers to read or modify FPU, MMX, and XMM register state data for another process within the same guest system.

x86 HVM guests are affected.

x86 PV or ARM guests are not affected.

Jan Beulich of SUSE reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local user on the guest system can read or modify register state information from other processes on the guest system.
Solution:   Citrix has issued a hotfix for CVE-2016-7777 for Citrix XenServer.
