Description:   A vulnerability was reported in ntp on Debian/Ubuntu Linux. A local user can obtain root privileges on the target system.

The '/etc/cron.daily/ntp' script distributed with Debian-based Linux systems performs unsafe operations on ntp statistics files owned by the 'ntp' user with root privileges. A local user can modify the files to cause the script to modify arbitrary files with root privileges.

Solution:   Ubuntu has issued a fix.
