CVE Reference:   CVE-2016-1454   (Links to External Site)
Date:  Oct 5 2016
Impact:   Denial of service via network
Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes

Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Cisco NX-OS. A remote user can cause the target system to reload.

A remote user that is a trusted Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) peer of the target or can inject BGP messages can send specially crafted BGP update messages to the target device via TCP port 179 to cause the target device to reload.

The packet must arrive via an existing BGP session.

If all BGP peers of the target device are Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, or IOS-XR devices and are not configured for Cisco Multicast VPN (MVPN) interautonomous system support, the device is not exploitable via the network.
