Description:   Two vulnerabilities were reported in EMC Unisphere for VMAX. A remote user can execute arbitrary code on the target system. A remote authenticated user can execute arbitrary code on the target system.

A remote user can connect to port 5480 on the target system and specially crafted data to trigger an input validation flaw in the vApp Manager in the GetSymmCmdRequest and RemoteServiceHandler classes and execute arbitrary code on the target system [CVE-2016-6646]. The code will run with root privileges.

A remote authenticated user can connect to port 5480 on the target system and specially crafted data to trigger an input validation flaw in the vApp Manager in the GeneralCmdRequest, PersistantDataRequest, and GetCommandExecRequest classes and execute arbitrary code on the target system [CVE-2016-6646]. The code will run with root privileges.

EMC Solutions Enabler Virtual Appliance versions 8.0.x - 8.2.x are also affected.

Travis Emmert from Salesforce reported one vulnerability. Michael Cramer from Digital Defense Inc. reported two vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A remote or remote authenticated user can execute arbitrary code on the target system with root privileges.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (8.3.0; Advisory ESA-2016-121).
