Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Siemens SIMATIC WinCC. A remote user can obtain passwords in certain cases.

The remote management module does not properly protect authentication credentials sent over the network. A remote user that can monitor the network can capture and recover passwords.

Gleb Gritsai and Roman Ilin from Positive Technologies reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A remote user in a privileged network position can obtain passwords in certain cases.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (2008 SP3 Up7).
