Date:  May 10 2016
Impact:   Disclosure of system information, Root access via local system
Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes
Version(s): Vista SP2, 2008 SP2, 7 SP1, 2008 R2 SP1, 8.1, 2012, 2012 R2, RT 8.1, 10, 10 Version 1511; and prior service packs
Description:   Multiple vulnerabilities were reported in Windows Kernel-Mode Drivers. A local user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system. A local user can bypass security restrictions.

A local user can run a specially crafted application to trigger memory object handling flaws in 'Win32k.sys' and execute arbitrary code on the target system with kernel-level privileges [CVE-2016-0171, CVE-2016-0173, CVE-2016-0174, CVE-2016-0196].

A local user can run a specially crafted application to trigger a memory object handling error in the DirectX Graphics kernel subsystem (dxgkrnl.sys) and execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges [CVE-2016-0176].

A local user can run a specially crafted application to trigger a system call and escape handling error in the DirectX Graphics kernel subsystem (dxgkrnl.sys) and execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges [CVE-2016-0197].

A local user can run a specially crafted application to obtain information from kernel memory and potentially bypass Kernel Address Space Layout Randomization (KASLR) protections [CVE-2016-0175].

Impact:   A local user can obtain kernel-level privileges on the target system.

A local user can bypass address space layout randomization protection on the target system.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix.

A patch matrix is available in the vendor advisory.
