RSA Data Loss Prevention Bugs Let Remote Users Conduct Cross-Site Scripting and Clickjacking Attacks and Let Remote Authenticated Users Bypass Security Controls and Obtain Potentially Sensitive Information
SecurityTracker Alert ID:  1035714
SecurityTracker URL:  http://securitytracker.com/id/1035714
CVE Reference:   CVE-2016-0892, CVE-2016-0893, CVE-2016-0894, CVE-2016-0895   (Links to External Site)
Date:  May 2 2016
Impact:   Disclosure of authentication information, Disclosure of system information, Disclosure of user information, Execution of arbitrary code via network, Modification of user information
Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes
Version(s): 9.6, 9.6 SP1, 9.6 SP2, 9.6 SP2 P1, 9.6 SP2 P2, 9.6 SP2 P3, 9.6 SP2 P3, 9.6 SP2 P4
Description:   Several vulnerabilities were reported in RSA Data Loss Prevention. A remote authenticated user can obtain potentially sensitive information on the target system. A remote authenticated user can bypass security restrictions. A remote user can conduct click-jacking attacks. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

The software does not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input [CVE-2016-0892]. A remote user can cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the site running the RSA Data Loss Prevention software and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

A remote authenticated user can send specially crafted data to trigger an error condition and obtain potentially sensitive information on the target system [CVE-2016-0893].

A remote authenticated user can send a specially crafted URL parameter to point to an object to bypass security controls and access resources on the target system [CVE-2016-0894].

A remote user can hijack a target user's mouse clicks to take actions on the site acting as the target user [CVE-2016-0895].

Impact:   A remote authenticated user can obtain potentially sensitive information on the target system.

A remote authenticated user can bypass security controls on the target system.

A remote user can conduct clickjacking attacks.

A remote user can access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site running the RSA Data Loss Prevention software, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (9.6.SP2 P5; Advisory ESA-2016-041).
