SecurityTracker Alert ID:  1034552
SecurityTracker URL:  http://securitytracker.com/id/1034552
CVE Reference:   CVE-2015-6016, CVE-2015-6017   (Links to External Site)
Date:  Dec 31 2015
Impact:   Disclosure of authentication information, Disclosure of user information, Execution of arbitrary code via network, Modification of user information, User access via network
Vendor Confirmed:  Yes
Version(s): Model P-660HW-T1 2
Description:   Two vulnerabilities were reported in ZyXEL Wireless Router model P-660HW-T1 2. A remote user can gain administrative access to the target system. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

The system uses a default password of '1234' for the 'admin' account. A remote user can gain administrative access to the target system [CVE-2015-6016].

The interface does not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input [CVE-2015-6017]. A remote user can cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the ZyXEL Wireless Router interface and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

The LoginPassword or hiddenPassword parameters on the 'Forms/rpAuth_1' page are affected.

Model P-660HW-T1 2 devices with ZyNOS firmware version 3.40(AXH.0) are affected by these vulnerabilities.

Karn Ganeshen reported these vulnerabilities via US-CERT.

Impact:   A remote user can gain administrative access to the target system.

A remote user can access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the ZyXEL Wireless Router interface, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the interface, or take actions on the interface acting as the target user.
