Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Xen. A local administrative user on the guest system can cause denial of service conditions on the host system.

Some HYPERVISOR_memory_op subop calls do not properly limit resource usage. A local administrative user on the guest system can exploit this to prevent the use of a physical CPU for a period of time and cause denial of service conditions on the host system.

On systems with a host watchdog configured, a watchdog timeout may occur and cause the host to reboot.

ARM systems are affected.

x86 system are not affected.

Julien Grall of Citrix reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local administrative user on the guest system can cause denial of service conditions on the host system.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (xsa158-4.4.patch and xsa158.patch).
