(Microsoft Issues Fix for Microsoft JScript and VBScript Engine) Microsoft Internet Explorer Multiple Bugs Let Remote Users Bypass ASLR, Obtain Potentially Sensitive Information, Gain Elevated Privileges, and Execute Arbitrary Code
SecurityTracker Alert ID:  1033801
SecurityTracker URL:  http://securitytracker.com/id/1033801
CVE Reference:   CVE-2015-2482, CVE-2015-6052, CVE-2015-6055, CVE-2015-6059   (Links to External Site)
Date:  Oct 13 2015
Impact:   Disclosure of system information, Disclosure of user information, Execution of arbitrary code via network, User access via network
Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes
Version(s): 5.7, 5.8
Description:   Multiple vulnerabilities were reported in Microsoft Internet Explorer. A remote user can cause arbitrary code to be executed on the target user's system. A remote user can gain elevated privileges. A remote user can bypass security controls on the target system. A remote user can obtain potentially sensitive information on the target system. Microsoft JScript and VBScript Engine is affected.

A remote user can create specially crafted content that, when loaded by the target user, will trigger a memory corruption error and execute arbitrary code on the target user's system [CVE-2015-6042, CVE-2015-6045, CVE-2015-6048, CVE-2015-6049, CVE-2015-6050].

A remote user can create a specially crafted ActiveX control marked "safe for initialization" in an application or Microsoft Office document that, when loaded by the target user, will trigger a memory corruption error in the VBScript and JScript engines and execute arbitrary code on the target user's system [CVE-2015-2482, CVE-2015-6055, CVE-2015-6056].

A remote user that can exploit a separate vulnerability can trigger a permission validation flaw to gain elevated privileges on the target system [CVE-2015-6044, CVE-2015-6047, CVE-2015-6051].

A remote user can bypass the Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR) security feature via the VBScript and JScript engines [CVE-2015-6052, CVE-2015-6059].

A remote user can send a specially crafted request to view potentially sensitive information from memory on the target system [CVE-2015-6046, CVE-2015-6053].

Impact:   A remote user can create content that, when loaded by the target user, will execute arbitrary code on the target user's system.

A remote user can gain elevated privileges on the target system.

A remote user can bypass ASLR security controls on the target system.

A remote user can obtain potentially sensitive information on the target system.

Solution:   Microsoft has issued a fix for CVE-2015-2482, CVE-2015-6052, CVE-2015-6055, and CVE-2015-6059 for Microsoft JScript and VBScript Engine.
