SecurityTracker Alert ID:  1033649
SecurityTracker URL:  http://securitytracker.com/id/1033649
CVE Reference:   CVE-2015-4541, CVE-2015-4542, CVE-2015-4543   (Links to External Site)
Date:  Sep 23 2015
Impact:   Disclosure of authentication information, Disclosure of system information, Disclosure of user information, Execution of arbitrary code via network, Modification of system information, Modification of user information
Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes
Version(s): 5.x
Description:   Several vulnerabilities were reported in RSA Archer eGRC. A remote authenticated user can access data on the target system. A remote authenticated user can modify data on the target system. A remote authenticated user can obtain passwords on the target system. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

The software does not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input [CVE-2015-4541]. A remote user can cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the site running the RSA Archer eGRC software and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

The system does not enforce proper access controls for Discussion Forum Fields. A remote authenticated user can access and modify messages on the target Discussion Forum Fields [CVE-2015-4542].

The RSA user password may be stored in clear text in the database. A remote authenticated user with access to the database can view the password and access Archer applications on the target system [CVE-2015-4543].

Impact:   A remote authenticated user can obtain and modify data on the target system.

A remote authenticated user can obtain passwords on the target system.

A remote user can access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site running the RSA Archer eGRC software, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (5.5 SP3; Advisory ESA-2015-142).
