Description:   Several vulnerabilities were reported in Microsoft Office. A remote user can cause arbitrary code to be executed on the target user's system.

A remote user can create a specially crafted file that, when loaded by the target user via Microsoft Office, will trigger a memory corruption error and execute arbitrary code on the target user's system [CVE-2015-2520, CVE-2015-2521, CVE-2015-2523].

Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack is also affected.

A remote user can create a specially crafted EPS file that, when loaded by the target user via Microsoft Office or pasted into an Office document by the target user, will execute arbitrary code on the target user's system [CVE-2015-2545].

Steven Vittitoe of Google Project Zero and Genwei Jiang of FireEye, Inc. reported these vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A remote user can create content that, when loaded by the target user, will execute arbitrary code on the target user's system.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix.

A patch matrix is available in the vendor's advisory.

[Editor's note: On September 30, 2015, the vendor updated their advisory to indicate that an update package for Microsoft Office 2016 is now available and that users of Microsoft Office 2016 should apply the new fix (update 2910993).]

[Editor's note: On November 10, 2015, Microsoft re-issued this update to comprehensively fix CVE-2015-2545. Users should install the new updates.]
