A vulnerability was reported in Xen. A local user on the guest system can obtain potentially sensitive information from the host system. Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization is affected.|
The QEMU RTL8139 network card model does not properly validate user-supplied input. A local user on a guest system can supply specially crafted data to view potentially sensitive information about the guest system from uninitialized portions of heap memory. The information includes data that the host administrator does not intend for the guest administrator to access, including data about physical devices backing emulated devices or about passwords.
Systems running x86 HVM guests without stubdomains configured with an emulated RTL8139 driver model are affected.
Systems using qemu-dm stubdomain device models are not affected.
Systems running only PV guests are not affected.
ARM systems are not affected.

Updated qemu-kvm-rhev packages that fix one security issue are now
available for Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor 7.

RHEV-H and VDSM for 7 Hosts - x86_64
KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) is a full virtualization solution for
Linux on AMD64 and Intel 64 systems. The qemu-kvm-rhev package provides the
user-space component for running virtual machines using KVM.
An information leak flaw was found in the way QEMU's RTL8139 emulation
implementation processed network packets under RTL8139 controller's C+ mode
of operation. An unprivileged guest user could use this flaw to read up to
65 KB of uninitialized QEMU heap memory. (CVE-2015-5165)

All qemu-kvm-rhev users are advised to upgrade to these updated packages,
which contain a backported patch to correct this issue. After installing
this update, shut down all running virtual machines. Once all virtual
machines have shut down, start them again for this update to take effect.
