SecurityTracker Alert ID:  1032846
SecurityTracker URL:  http://securitytracker.com/id/1032846
CVE Reference:   CVE-2014-6447   (Links to External Site)
Date:  Jul 10 2015
Impact:   Denial of service via network, Disclosure of authentication information, Disclosure of user information, Execution of arbitrary code via network, Modification of user information
Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes

Description:   Two vulnerabilities were reported in Juniper Junos J-Web. A remote user can cause the target service to crash. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

The interface does not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input. A remote user can cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target administrative user's browser. The code will originate from the Juniper Junos interface and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

A remote user can cause the target J-Web service to crash.

The vendor has assigned PR 959990 to these vulnerabilities.

Kyle Lovett reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A remote user can cause the target service to crash.

A remote user can access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the Juniper Junos interface, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the interface, or take actions on the interface acting as the target user.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (12.1X44-D45, 12.1X46-D30, 12.1X47-D20, 12.3R8, 12.3X48-D10, 13.1R5, 13.2R6, 13.3R4, 14.1R3, 14.2R1, 15.1R1).
