Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Cisco ASR 9000 Series Routers running Cisco IOS XR. A remote user on the local network can cause denial of service conditions on the target system.

A remote user on the local network can send specially crafted IEEE 802.3x flow control pause frames to trigger a flaw in the Cisco IOS XR flow control processing and cause the target Network Processing Unit (NPU) chip to reset. As a result, the target line card may reload.

The vendor has assigned bug ID CSCut19959 to this vulnerability.

Impact:   A remote user on the local network can cause the target NPU chip to reset and, potentially, the target line card to reload.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix.
