(IBM Issues Fix for IBM FileNet Content Manager) IBM Domino Buffer Overflows Let Remote Users Execute Arbitrary Code and Input Validation Flaw Permits Cross-Site Scripting Attacks
SecurityTracker Alert ID:  1032644
SecurityTracker URL:  http://securitytracker.com/id/1032644
CVE Reference:   CVE-2014-8917   (Links to External Site)
Date:  Jun 19 2015
Impact:   Disclosure of authentication information, Disclosure of user information, Execution of arbitrary code via network, Modification of user information, User access via network
Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes
Version(s): 5.2.0, 5.2.1
Description:   Several vulnerabilities were reported in IBM Domino. A remote user can cause arbitrary code to be executed on the target user's system. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks. IBM FileNet Content Manager is affected by one vulnerability.

The IBM Dojo Toolkit does not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input [CVE-2014-8917]. A remote user can create a specially crafted URL that, when loaded by a target user, will cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the site running the IBM Domino software and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

A remote user can create a specially crafted BMP image file that, when loaded by the target user, will trigger a stack overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system [CVE-2015-1902, CVE-2015-1903]. bilou (via HP's Zero Day Initiative) reported these buffer overflow vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A remote user can create a file that, when loaded by the target user, will execute arbitrary code on the target user's system.

A remote user can access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site running the IBM Lotus Notes software, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

Solution:   IBM has issued a fix for CVE-2014-8917 for IBM FileNet Content Manager.

For 5.2.0:

5.2.0.3-P8CPE-ALL-LA067
5.2.0.4-P8CPE-FP004

For 5.2.1:

5.2.1.2-P8CPE-FP002
