Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Xen. A local administrative user on the guest system can cause denial of service conditions on other guest systems.

A local administrative user on a guest system can write to the host MSI message data field, which may cause an error in host-based interrupt handling and adversely affect other guest systems.

x86 systems are affected. ARM systems are not affected.

HVM guest systems with their device model run in Dom0 and with access granted to physical MSI-capable PCI devices can exploit this flaw.

Jan Beulich of SUSE reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local administrative user on the guest system can cause denial of service conditions on other guest systems.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (xsa128-qemuu.patch, xsa128-qemuu-4.3.patch, xsa128-qemut.patch).
