SecurityTracker Alert ID:  1032207
SecurityTracker URL:  http://securitytracker.com/id/1032207
CVE Reference:   CVE-2015-3438, CVE-2015-3439   (Links to External Site)
Updated:  Apr 29 2015
Original Entry Date:  Apr 28 2015
Impact:   Disclosure of authentication information, Disclosure of user information, Execution of arbitrary code via network, Modification of user information
Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes
Version(s): prior to 4.1.2
Description:   Several vulnerabilities were reported in WordPress. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks. A remote user can inject SQL commands.

The software does not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input [CVE-2015-3438, CVE-2015-3439]. A remote user can cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the site running the WordPress software and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

Cedric Van Bockhaven reported one vulnerability. Jakub Zoczek reported one vulnerability [affecting version 3.9 and later].

Some plugins do not properly validate user-supplied input. A remote user can supply a specially crafted parameter value to execute SQL commands on the underlying database.

The following plugins may be affected:

All In one SEO
Broken-Link-Checker
Download Monitor
Give
Google Analytics by Yoast
Gravity Forms
Jetpack
Multiple iThemes products including Builder and Exchange
Multiple Plugins from Easy Digital Downloads

Ben Bidner of the WordPress security team reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A remote user can access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site running the WordPress software, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.
