Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Cisco Intrusion Prevention System. A remote user can cause denial of service conditions on the target system.

A remote user can negotiate multiple HTTPS connections with the management interface to trigger a race condition and cause the target MainApp process and web service to become unresponsive. As a result, the IPS sensor may fail to perform alert notification, event store management, and sensor authentication. The Cisco IPS web server is also unavailable while the MainApp process is unresponsive. The Analysis Engine may fail to work properly.

The system must be restarted to return to normal operations.

The vendor has assigned bug ID CSCuq40652 to this vulnerability.

Impact:   A remote user can cause the web interface to become unavailable and cause the system to fail to perform alert notification, event store management, and sensor authentication.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (7.3(3)E4).
