Description:   Multiple vulnerabilities were reported in NetIQ Access Manager. A remote authenticated user can read arbitrary files on the target system. A remote authenticated user can obtain passwords. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting and cross-site request forgery attacks.

A remote authenticated user can supply a specially crafted XML external entity (XXE) reference to iManager in the Administration Console server to read arbitrary files [CVE-2014-5214].

A remote authenticated user can send a specially crafted request to obtain service-account passwords [CVE-2014-5215].

The Administration Console server does not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input [CVE-2014-9412, CVE-2014-5216]. A remote user can create a specially crafted URL that, when loaded by a target user, will cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the site running the NetIQ Access Manager software and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

A remote user can conduct cross-site request forgery attacks to take action on the target site acting as the target authenticated administrator [CVE-2014-5217].

W. Ettlinger SEC Consult Vulnerability Lab reported these vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A remote authenticated user can read arbitrary files on the target system.

A remote authenticated user can obtain passwords.

A remote user can access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site running the NetIQ Access Manager software, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (4.0.1 HF3).
