Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Xen. A local guest administrative user can cause denial of service conditions on the host system.

A local guest administrative user can trigger a flaw in the physical to machine (P2M) mapping read/write lock implementation by issuing a flow of read lock acquires to prevent some write calls from acquiring a lock. On systems with the NMI watchdog active, a resulting timeout may cause the host to crash.

Andrew Cooper of Citrix reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local guest administrative user can cause the host system to crash.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (xsa114.patch, xsa114-4.2.patch, xsa114-4.3.patch, xsa114-4.4.patch).
