Description:   A vulnerability was reported in VMware vCenter Server. A remote user can access and modify CIM service communications, in certain cases.

The vCenter Server does not properly validate the certificate when connecting to a CIM Server on an ESXi host. A remote user with the ability to conduct a man-in-the-middle attack can exploit this to gain access to communications between the vCenter Server and the CIM Server.

The Google Security Team reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A remote user with the ability to conduct a man-in-the-middle attack can gain access to communications between the vCenter Server and the CIM Server.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (5.0 Update 3c, 5.1 Update 3, 5.5 Update 2).
