Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Xen. A local user on a guest system can cause denial of service conditions on the host system.

The use of compatibility mode hypercall argument translation in HVM guests allows a local user on an HVM guest to set specially crafted register values to cause the target host system to crash.

x86 systems are affected. ARM systems are not affected.

Jan Beulich at SUSE reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local user on a guest system can cause denial of service conditions on the host system.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (xsa111-4.2.patch, xsa111-4.3.patch, xsa111-unstable.patch; XSA-111).
