Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Cisco Intrusion Prevention System. A remote user can cause denial of service conditions.

A remote user can send specially crafted SNMP data to the management interface to cause the MainApp process to become unresponsive, preventing certain functions (e.g., alert notification, event store management, sensor authentication, web interface). Other functions (e.g., the Analysis Engine) may not function properly.

On systems with the SNMP v3 user configured with the noAuth option, authentication is not required to exploit this flaw.

The vendor has assigned bug IDs CSCum52355 and CSCul49309 to this vulnerability.

Impact:   A remote user can cause denial of service conditions.
Solution:   The vendor has described a workaround.
