Description:   A vulnerability was reported in EMC Avamar Client. A remote user can spoof the system.

The client does not properly validate the values in the Common Name (CN) and Subject Alternative Name (SAN) field of the Avamar Server certificate. A remote user with the ability to conduct a man-in-the-middle attack can masquerade as the server to gain access to the client's communications.

Impact:   A remote user can spoof the system to gain access to the client's communications.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (Client Hotfix # 50184 (client version 6.1.101-89)).
