Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Microsoft Antimalware Client. A local user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system.

Windows Defender does not properly use path names. A local user can execute arbitrary code on the target system with LocalSystem privileges.

Bruce Monroe of Intel, Tony Robotham of Centrica, and Shai Sarfaty separately reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local user can obtain LocalSystem privileges on the target system.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix, available via Automatic Update.

A restart is required.
