Description:   A vulnerability was reported in BIND. A remote user can cause denial of service conditions. McAfee Firewall Enterprise is affected.

A remote user can send a specially crafted request to cause the target named service to consume all available memory evaluating a regular expression and crash.

BIND 9.6.x and 10.x are not affected.

Windows-based versions are not affected.

Matthew Horsfall of Dyn, Inc. reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A remote user can cause the target name service to crash.
Solution:   McAfee has issued a fix for McAfee Firewall Enterprise (8.2.1P08, 8.3.0E16, 8.3.1P01).

McAfee Firewall Enterprise version 8.x is affected. Version 7.x is not affected.
