Description:   A vulnerability was reported in expat. A remote user can cause denial of service conditions. Splunk is affected.

A remote user can create specially crafted XML input that, when processed by the XML parser (xmlparse.c), will trigger hash collisions and cause excessive CPU consumption and performance degradation on the target server.

Impact:   A remote user can cause performance to degrade on the target server.
Solution:   Splunk has issued a fix (5.0).
