A vulnerability was reported in Red Hat Network Satellite Server. A remote authenticated user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks.|
The web interface does not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input. A remote authenticated user can cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target authenticated user's browser. The code will originate from the site running the Red Hat Network Satellite Server software and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.
William Hoffmann reported this vulnerability.

CVE Names: CVE-2011-4346
Updated packages that fix one security issue are now available for
Red Hat Network Satellite 5.4.1 for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and 6.

Red Hat Network (RHN) Satellite provides a solution to organizations
requiring absolute control over and privacy of the maintenance and package
deployment of their servers. It allows organizations to utilize the
benefits of the Red Hat Network without having to provide public Internet
access to their servers or other client systems.
A cross-site scripting (XSS) flaw was found in the RHN Satellite web
interface. An authenticated RHN Satellite user could use this flaw to
perform a cross-site scripting attack against other authenticated users who
are using the RHN Satellite web interface. (CVE-2011-4346)
Red Hat would like to thank William Hoffmann for reporting this issue.
Users of Red Hat Network Satellite 5.4.1 are advised to upgrade to these
updated packages, which contain a patch to correct this issue. For this
update to take effect, Red Hat Network Satellite must be restarted. Refer
to the Solution section for details.
Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
This update is available via the Red Hat Network. Details on how to
use the Red Hat Network to apply this update are available at
Run the following command to restart the Red Hat Network Satellite
# rhn-satellite restart
