Description:   Two vulnerabilities were reported in Blackboard Transact Suite. A local user can obtain passwords.

A local user can edit the 'connection.xml' file to move the '<Password>' field encrypted contents into another field and then invoke the 'BbtsConnection_Edit.exe' utility on the file to view the password.

Multiple script and batch files used by the Blackboard Transact application contain the database username and password in clear text. A local user can view the password.

John Fisher reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local user can obtain the database password.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (3.6 Patch 2 (version 3.6.0.2)) to address the BbtsConnection_Edit.exe vulnerability.

The vendor plans to issue a fix for the batch file vulnerability in mid-to-late August 2010.
