Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Ingres Database. A remote user can execute arbitrary code on the target system.

A remote user can send specially crafted data to the iidbms process to trigger a heap overflow and potentially execute arbitrary code on the target system. The code will run with the privileges of the target service.

The Windows and VMS based versions are not affected.

Evgeny Legerov of Intevydis reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A remote user can execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix for Ingress Bug 123208, available via the Ingres Support Team.

The fix will be included in the next code refresh for community users.
