Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Novell eDirectory. A remote user can cause denial of service conditions.

A remote user can send a specially crafted search request with a NULL BaseDN to cause the target service to become unresponsive.

The vendor was notified on July 14, 2009.

An anonymous researcher reported this vulnerability via TippingPoint.

Impact:   A remote user can cause the target eDirectory service to become unresponsive.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (8.7.3.10 ftf2, 8.8.5 ftf1).
