Description:   A vulnerability was reported in IBM AIX in the rm_mlcache_file command. A local user may be able to gain elevated privileges.

A local user can exploit the rm_mlcache_file command to overwrite arbitrary files on the target system.

This can be exploited to cause data loss or denial of service conditions.

The rm_mlcache_file command is part of the bos.rte.install fileset.

Yang Jilong of NSFocus Security Team found the vulnerability.

Impact:   A local user can overwrite arbitrary files on the target system to cause data loss or denial of service conditions.
Solution:   IBM has issued or plans to issue the following fixes:

APAR number for AIX 5.1.0: IY82866 (available approx. 07/19/06)
APAR number for AIX 5.2.0: IY82285 (available approx. 04/26/06)
APAR number for AIX 5.3.0: IY82357 (available)
