Description:   A vulnerability was reported in the Heimdal telnetd server. A remote user may be able to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

A remote user can supply a specially crafted terminal type telnet option to trigger a buffer overflow in the getterminaltype() function and execute arbitrary code on the target system. A value larger than 256 bytes will trigger the overflow. The code will run with the privileges of the telnetd process.

Impact:   A remote user can execute arbitrary code on the target system with the privileges of the telnetd process.
Solution:   The vendor has issued fixed versions (0.6.5 and 0.7), available at:
