Description:   In June 2003, a vulnerability was reported in MikMod. A remote user may be able to cause arbitrary code to be executed.

A remote user can create a specially crafted filename within an archive file that, when processed by the target user with MikMod, will trigger a buffer overflow and potentially execute arbitrary code. The code will run with the privileges of the target user.

The flaw resides in 'marchive.c'.

Ingo Saitz discovered this vulnerability.

Impact:   A remote user may be able to cause arbitrary code to be executed when the target user processed a specially crafted file.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fixed version (3.2.0 and later), available at:
