CVE Reference:   CVE-2005-0472   (Links to External Site)
Updated:  Feb 21 2005
Original Entry Date:  Feb 18 2005
Impact:   Denial of service via network
Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes
Version(s): prior to 1.1.3
Description:   A denial of service vulnerability was reported in Gaim in the processing of SNAC packets. A remote user can cause the target client to freeze.

A remote AIM or ICQ user can send specially crafted SNAC packets to the target user to cause the target user's Gaim client to enter an infinite loop. The standard AIM and ICQ clients cannot create these packets. Instead, a custom client is required to exploit this flaw.

Impact:   A remote user can cause the target user's Gaim client to freeze.
