Version(s): 7.1, 9.0, possibly others
Description:   Two vulnerabilties were reported in Hummingbird Connectivity. A remote authenticated user can cause the FTP service to crash. A local user can execute applications with Local System privileges.

NISCC reported that a local user can invoke the Hummingbird Inetd32 administration tool and specify an arbitrary application to be executed when a particular service receives a connection. A local user can specify their own application and then generate a connection to the applicable service to cause the user's own application to be executed with Local System privileges.

It is also reported that a remote authenticated user can issue a specially crafted XCWD command with a directory name of between 256 and 259 characters to trigger a buffer overflow and cause the FTP service to crash.

The CESG Network Defence Team is credited with reporting these flaws.

Impact:   A remote authenticated user can cause the FTP service to crash.

A local user can execute applications with Local System privileges to gain elevated privileges on the target system.
