Description:   A vulnerability was reported in WebLogic Server and WebLogic Express when running on operating systems that have case-sensitive filenames but loading applications from systems that do not support case-sensitive filenames. A remote user may be able to access some restricted URLs.

BEA Systems reported that the vulnerability occurs when running on operating systems that have case-sensitive filenames but mounting directories containing Web applications on a system that does not support case-sensitive filenames.

Some URL patterns in the 'web.xml' file may not be processed properly, causing access controls to be applied incorrectly.

Impact:   A remote user may be able to access some restricted URLs.
Solution:   The vendor has provided the following fix information [quoted]:

* For WebLogic Server 8.1, upgrade to WebLogic Server 8.1 Service Pack 3.

* For WebLogic Server and WebLogic Express 7.0 perform the following steps:
1. Upgrade to WebLogic Server 7.0 Service Pack 5
2. Download and apply the patch: ftp://ftpna.beasys.com/pub/releases/security/CR128940_700sp5.jar

* For WebLogic Server and WebLogic Express 6.1 perform the following steps:
1. Upgrade to WebLogic Server 6.1 Service Pack 6
2. Download and apply the patch:
ftp://ftpna.beasys.com/pub/releases/security/CR128940_610sp6.jar


This fix will be included in WebLogic Server 6.1 Service Pack 7 and WebLogic Server 7.0 Service Pack 6.
