Description:   An input validation vulnerability was reported in ByteHoard. A remote user can view files on the system located outside of the document directory.

Sintelli reported that a remote user can submit a specially crafted URL request containing '../' directory traversal characters to view arbitrary files on the target system with the privileges of the target web server.

A demonstration exploit URL is provided:

http://victim.com/bytehoard/index.php?infolder=../../../../

The vendor was reportedly notified on October 17, 2003 and fixed by the vendor on the same day.

Impact:   A remote user can view arbitrary files on the system that are readable by the web server process.
Solution:   The vendor has released a fixed version (0.71), available at:
