Description:   SecurityOffice.net reported an information disclosure vulnerability in Lil' HTTP Server. A remote user can view files that should be password protected without authenticating to the web server.

A remote user can reportedly create a specially crafted GET request that can access the contents of password protected files or folders on the web server. The following type of URL will reportedly trigger the flaw:

http://host/./protectedfolder/protectedfile.htm

Impact:   A remote user can view password protected files without having to supply a password.
Solution:   No solution was available at the time of this entry.

weighs in at just under 120k in size as a stand-alone EXE file. It
features security, Server Side Includes and CGI support. LilHTTP is very
easy to configure and to setup.

Summary

It is possible to construct a web request which is capable of accessing
the contents of password protected files/folders on the webserver.
