Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Apple Safari for Windows running on Microsoft Windows XP and Vista. A remote user can cause arbitrary files to be downloaded to the target user's system and potentially executed on the target user's system.

A remote user can create specially crafted HTML file that, when loaded by the target user with Apple Safari for Windows, will download the file to the target user's system without prompting the target user. The executable files may appear to be legitimate files or icons and may be executed by the target user.

This vulnerability is being actively exploited on systems that have Apple Safari for Windows installed and have Apple Safari for Windows configured with the default download location (i.e., the desktop).

Impact:   A remote user can create HTML that, when loaded by the target user, will download arbitrary files to the target user's system without prompting the target user.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fixed version (3.1.2 for Windows), available via the Apple Software Update application, or Apple's Safari download site at:

http://www.apple.com/safari/download/
