CVE Reference:   CVE-2017-7526   (Links to External Site)
Date:  Jul 18 2017
Impact:   Disclosure of authentication information
Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes
Version(s): prior to 1.7.8
Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Libgcrypt. A user can recover keys used by the target system in certain cases.

Libgcrypt uses the left-to-right method for computing the sliding-window expansion, which leaks information about exponent bits that can be exploited to recover RSA-1024 keys. A user that can run arbitrary code on the target hardware (that uses the target RSA private key) can conduct a side-channel attack against the RSA-1024 implementation to determine the private key.
