Description:   Two vulnerabilities were reported in Windows Performance Monitor Console and Windows System Information Console . A remote user can conduct XML external entity attacks to obtain files on the target system.

A remote user can create specially crafted XML External Entity (XXE) file that, when imported by the target user that is a member of the Performance Log Users or Local Administrators group after the target user has created a Data Collector Set, will read arbitrary files on the target system [CVE-2017-0170]. Windows RT 8.1 is not affected.

A remote user can create specially crafted XML External Entity (XXE) file that, when loaded via the the Windows System Information Console by the target user, will read arbitrary files on the target system [CVE-2017-8557].

David Fernandez of Sidertia Solutions and SaifAllah benMassaoud (@benmassaou) reported these vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A remote user can read files on the target system with the privileges of the target service.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix.
