SecurityTracker Alert ID:  1038798
SecurityTracker URL:  http://securitytracker.com/id/1038798
CVE Reference:   CVE-2017-9810, CVE-2017-9811, CVE-2017-9812, CVE-2017-9813   (Links to External Site)
Date:  Jun 28 2017
Impact:   Disclosure of authentication information, Disclosure of system information, Disclosure of user information, Execution of arbitrary code via network, Modification of user information, Root access via local system
Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes
Version(s): for Linux File Server; 8.0.3.297; possibly other versions
Description:   Several vulnerabilities were reported in Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Linux File Server. A remote user can conduct cross-site request forgery attacks. A local user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system. A remote authenticated user can obtain files on the target system. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

A remote user can create a specially crafted HTML page or URL that, when loaded by the target authenticated user, will take actions on the target Web Management Console interface acting as the target user [CVE-2017-9810].

A local user with 'kluser' privileges can exploit a flaw in the quarantine read and write operations to cause kav4fs-control to execute arbitrary commands on the target system with root privileges [CVE-2017-9811].

A remote authenticated user can send specially crafted data to exploit a path traversal flaw in the Web Management Console and view files on the target system with the 'kluser' privileges [CVE-2017-9812].

The 'reportId' parameter of the 'getReportStatus' 'action' method is affected.

The Web Management Console does not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input [CVE-2017-9813]. A remote user can cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the site running the Kaspersky Anti-Virus software and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

The 'scriptName' parameter of the 'licenseKeyInfo' 'action' is affected.

The vendor was notified on April 3, 2017.

Leandro Barragan and Maximiliano Vidal from Core Security Consulting Services reported these vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A remote user can take actions on the target system acting as the target authenticated user.

A local user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system.

A remote authenticated user can obtain files on the target system.

A remote user can access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site running the Kaspersky Anti-Virus Web Management Console, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (for Linux File Server; MP2 CF4; 8.0.4.312).
